Goals… priorities… One of the toughest challenges for me has been choosing ONE major goal and laser focusing my energy there. I have too many interests, and they are all important. Brian Tracy poses the question that makes that ONE goal magically appear and stand out from the crowd.
Before now, I had it narrowed down to three major goals. That is too many… no matter how I cut it, my efforts are diluted and I feel fragmented. NOW I can see how my three goals fit together, and which one is really my ONE major goal.
Thank you, Marc Korn, for bringing this awesome little video to my attention!

Hi Willena,
I love Brian Tracy! The biggest takeaway I have from him since learning about him about a year ago, is that if all we do was get good at writing goals and following through on them, we will become millionaires. Which makes sense to me because when we get good at writing goals, our brain looks for an answer for HOW to make those goals happen.
He is just awesome! Looking forward to returning and reading your next blog post!

I think you’ve hit on the key, Jaclyn… when we write it down, our brain looks for an answer. Same thing with our self talk. When we make a point of continuously saying our positive self talk, our subconscious mind begins to believe it, and looks for ways to bring it about. We’ve got our feelers out… our reticular activating system… and will see things we never thought possible before.
I love this video Wellina! I thought I’d seen all of Brian’s video’s but this is new to me – and the timing is PERFECT. Just last week I reshuffled my goals and priorities to achieve a much tighter focus … but this is even better! I already know the #1 goal – what I need to do is work on that list of ALL the things I could possibly do to make it happen – because I’m still spending too much time trying to make EVERYTHING happen. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi Willena,
Thanks for sharing this video..it is awesome and thanks for the mention and link to my blog.
All of Brian’s videos and content is TOP NOTCH and is geared towards measurable actions we can all take to achieve success.
It’s great that you have 3 major goals and your MAJOR DEFINITE PURPOSE (the most important one) will help you to achieve ALL of your goals.
They should all be aligned with your core values and then you will be unstoppable…
Setting goals should be the first action before we start any project.
Unfortunately, most people don’t take the time and trouble to sit down and write down the steps they need to take in order to achieve their goals.
Even if you have a small task, you should use goal setting techniques.
I hope you downloaded Brian’s FREE Goals Report from my blog post…
To your continued success,

Hi Willena,
thanks for bringing the attention to this great tool of goal setting.
To ask ourselves which goal would have the major impact on our lives sounds really good.
Doing something everyday makes a lot of sense.
Great short, concise video!

Hi Willena! Many thanks to you for sharing this amazing and eye opening video! Before watching this video, I was just thinking that it was just another business idea sharing video but as I heard what Brian said, I realized that I need to recognize the goal that will have the most positive impact on my life and it has been a long time that I listed my goals.
Leo recently posted..Una historia de la planta de tabaco
Me too, Leo. It helped me to see that two of my three goals really fit under ONE major goal. And that one will help me to accomplish the other two.
Hi Willena,
A really important lesson for all of us who sometimes get lost in the long list of the todo things we have on a daily basis.
I particularly liked the twist which mentions how out of the 10 items we would want to accomplish one should be selected immediately and more importantly acted upon.
It would then be a question of one step at the time untill everything is accomplished.

I am so excited to watch another video of Brain Tracy. His short, simple exercise really can change our lives. I have lists of goals but to choose ONE and work on it every day is empowering.
I am even more excited, after watching him, that I am one of the authors in a book featuring Brian Tracy and a few people from The Secret. The book is Adventures in Manifesting: Success and Spirituality. Find out more at my blog.

Hi Willena, I love Brian Tracy’s training and am thoroughly enjoying and getting so much out of his book Eat That Frog. Am I an organized productive machine. Not yet, but I do make my lists and practice “The Slight Edge”. I found it challenging to narrow down my most major goals. And like you I have many interests and am pulled in different directions. Laser Focus, like you mentioned…..is critically important.
Bless you!

Hi Willena,
As everyone here, I too love Brian Tracy. I give Marc Korn credit for introducing him to me. This is a great video and I am in the goal setting mode! It is staggering to see what we can accomplish if we do one thing everyday towards a specific goal. (Major Definite Purpose). I did what Brian said to do and I came up with my goal and I will move one step forward to reach my major goal.
So, in summary selecting a goal, making a plan and working on it every day is the secret!

Focusing on one goal seems so daunting to most people but it is the only way that one can accomplish anything. There are some many distractions in life that focusing in on one goal is so much better than trying to multi task too many things. Thanks for posting this great video. It is a good reminder of how to obtain sucess.
Joyce Edwards recently posted..Worldwide Diabetes Epidemic
I agree, Joyce.
Two things helped me with that daunting task. One is realizing that some of my goals fit into a larger category, and my one goal would head that category. The other is realizing that I can just “pick one”… any goal that reflects what is important to me. I can always change later if need be, but the important thing is to HAVE a single goal and work steadily toward it.
Hi, Willena!
I enjoyed Brian Tracy’s video and his speech. So far, I’ve already seen quite a few material from him. He is most certainly an amazing person that can easily motivate you with his speech. A definitive leader, I must say!

Great Post! Focus is the key factor we all need to remind ourselves to do. Even though I have many tricks up my sleeve to do so, I still wander away sometimes. It comes down to shutting everything off, stay in a quiet place and focus on your goal by taking some action steps at least once a day.
Thanks again,
Donna

After a very busy evening with many interruptions from my youngest son, I have to say it sounds mighty good to shut everything off and stay in a quiet place! Daily action steps… even if they’re small ones… will accumulate, just as Jeff Olsen says in The Slight Edge.
Thanks for posting the video Willena! Focusing on 1 goal sure is much easier, especially when we write down the action steps that will result in achieving that goal, and do the most important actions first.
Continuing to do those actions and not procrastinating helps a lot also (speaking to myself as much as anyone else:-)

Thanks for bringing us this video Willena. Brian Tracy has bee a favorite of mine for a very long time. He has such a way of explaining things like this so succinctly.
Sometimes it is difficult to pick out one goal to focus on as they are often related to each other but I have mine sorted out and do already work on it every single day.

Bobbi Prim recently posted..Positive Thinking – Your Key to Success
I’m glad the video helped you, Bobbi! Isn’t it awesome how so often JUST what we need shows up at JUST the right time?!!
I loved this video when I originally saw it. One reason I like it is because the shelf life of any goal or plan expires quite quickly if it is not reviewed and updated on a regular basis. Good intentions are of little use when we allow weeks, months, and years of potential and possibility slip by without inspection.
I find that clients are more likely to engage in a weekly performance review when they isolate one goal.
Rachel Lavern@LiveforSuccess recently posted..The Missing Link in Positive Affirmations
Ooooooh, I like how you put that, Rachel! “The shelf life of any goal or plan expires quickly if it is not reviewed and updated on a regular basis.” It’s a pretty good description of what happened to a lot of my goals in not too distant past.
Willena,
This video is soooooo crucial to anyone’s success!!! So crucial! Find that one goal that will change your life in the next 12 months and then just do things that support that goal!
It’s so simple, yet, so powerful. Brian Tracy is the BEST. Brian Tracy is the Master. Through a positive set of circumstances, I actually had the opportunity to eat lunch with Brian Tracy some years ago in California. He’s a great guy behind the scenes, off stage, just like you would expect.

How cool that you got to meet Brian Tracy!! Having lunch with him is ‘way better than a brief, hurried chat after a meeting, with a lineup of others waiting to speak with him! I have never met him, or even heard him speak in person. You are blessed!
What a simple concept yet how powerful, the secret of the slight edge, doing something everyday toward that main goal. It is something I keep reminding myself in a daily basis. I have to be honest, it has been a hard work to discipline myself to keep focused. Nowadays, it is so easy to get distracted, with so much information going on. Thanks so much for your post Willena.
alicia@yboggle recently posted..Hello world!
I know what you mean, Alicia… it’s hard work for me to stay focused too, and distraction is a major factor. I love learning, and gathering knowledge! But knowledge doesn’t do me any good if I am not able to organize it into a workable plan, and then take daily, consistent action on it.
Thanks Willena, that makes so much sense! Its really easy to diffuse the goals, and then be totally ineffective on any of them!

I think we often don’t see the value because it isn’t evident right away. Slight Edge actions don’t appear to be doing anything until farther down the road. But when we keep up the daily work, we WILL see the results we want, and it won’t be that far in the future.

I love Brian Tracy, but I don’t like how he puts so much focus on achieving your goals. You just set goals so you have a direction to go. If you don’t enjoy the process to getting your goal, the goal itself will be rather meaningless.

I totally agree with Brian Tracy. I wrote my goals in manila paper and taped them on the wall of my bedroom. And no matter how many times I removed or added something, there’s this one major goal that keeps leaping out at me.
