This is a picture of Nathaniel’s very first NaNoWriMo website badge. Unlike the regular program, where you must write 50,000 words, the Young Writers Program allows the participant to set his own goal. Nathaniel’s was 10,000 words, and tonight he reached his goal!
Here’s a picture of Nathaniel on another Wonderful Day in 2011… May 4, the day he went to Disneyland. It must have been a dazzlingly glorious day, because I scoured the pictures and could not find one without those sunglasses!

It’s a family event, for sure, even for those who don’t participate. They are cheering the rest of us on! One year, when all 7 children were living at home, 6 of us participated. That was fun!

Congratulations to Nathaniel for winning! That’s a pretty impressive feat, not every kid is capable of doing such thing.
I think we have a great writer in the making here.

We’re pretty proud of him, Tim. Next year I’m going to up his word count goal.
The first year Timothy did it, he was only 12, as Nathaniel is now. He got 12,500 words, and did all of his own typing.
