If you have commented on this blog in the past week or two and I haven’t responded, then this apology is for you.

After this week’s blog disaster, one of the plugins I’ve decided not to reinstall is the one that allowed for nested comments on my blog. I don’t know if it was the plugin, or my template, but it never did work very well when it came to my replying. I would be typing over top of type that showed up automatically when I clicked “Reply”, and was just generally a nuisance to use.

It’s too bad, because I really liked having my replies go with the correct comment. But unless someone can direct me to a similar plugin that works better, I guess I’m stuck. At least this way I’ll have to stay on top of the comments daily, rather than waiting so long to respond. Continue reading »

Wednesday was a topsy-turvy day. We have ongoing problems with our router or something. Skype works very well, but nothing else is reliable. This makes it very challenging to do my online business, and my blog commenting and syndicating. I am continually taken back to our dial-up days, as page after page takes a full minute to load. IF it loads at all.

But yesterday afternoon took the cake, when my blog suddenly went wonky and ALL of my POSTS and PAGES disappeared!!! I had other things to do in the evening, and couldn’t do anything about the blog. I had to continually bring myself back to the present moment and the task at hand, until later in the evening when I was free.

WHAT was I to do???

Blogging – there’s a lot more to it than being a good writer. You need a steady stream of visitors to your blog who will stay more than a few seconds before moving on to the next website. That is, IF you want your blog ever to make it to the first page of Google for your chosen keywords.

How do you get visitors? And how do you keep them engaged long enough that Google will like you?

Watch this excellent, short video for some important tips.

If this blog post has sparked any reaction from you – negative or positive – why not add your thoughts to the comments below? I’d love to hear from you.

I thank my fellow blogger, Willie Robertson, for introducing me to Scott Stratten of UnMarketing fame. The more we are able to fine tune our blogs and block out the undesirables, the more chance there is for alienating those we want to allow in. In his forthright and colourful manner, Scott has expressed my own thoughts better than I ever could.

THE FIVE WORDS THAT KILL YOUR BLOG

You’ve done the hardest parts of writing a blog post: Gotten the reader to your site, evoked a strong enough emotion to make them feel they need to add to the discussion and leave a comment, and they submit it and see this: Continue reading »

Again, I have my friend Linda Grace Cox to thank for this simple and informative video. CommentLuv is a must, if you want your blog to have maximum exposure.

I thought I had done everything correctly when I installed the plugin, but sometimes it doesn’t take much.

Remember all those times your language arts teacher told you, “Write about what you know!”? She was right! In this video, shared by Linda Grace Cox Duane Forrester tells us why.

Duane, aka The Online Marketing Guy, is the Senior Program Manager of MSN and Microsoft. He is also the author of Turn Clicks into Customers, and coauthor of How to Make Money from Your Blog.

If blogging is an important part of your business building plan, then you probably already know how easily inspiration dries up and you have a tough time coming up with subject matter. Writing what you are passionate about, in your own voice, will keep your interest alive and you’ll add value to your blog with every post. You also won’t be nearly so likely to quit before the money starts coming in.

I can see why Seth Godin is such a favourite among network marketers. I hear a lot about “tribes” these days, and blog tribles in particular. Seth Godin explains, in his funny, unique and simple, clear way, why tribes are so powerful.

What better way to connect with like minded people? And on what better basis to build relationships?

What’s YOUR tribe? Go. Find it. Lead it.

postman in spaceI used to think getting published would be easy if you know how to write. Boy, was I wrong!

A gardener enjoys the fruit of his labours only after he has tilled the soil, planted the seeds, watered the garden, diligently weeded out the unwanted plants, and waits… and waits… and waits for the fruit to appear and ripen.

A baker first has to prepare the pans, adjust the oven racks, turn the oven on, assemble all the ingredients, measure and mix, beat or knead, and fill the pans just so. Then he places the pans in the oven and waits… and waits… Continue reading »
